Education’s Changing Future

The internet has changed almost everything, especially education. As outlined by an interesting survey, 1 in 4 university students were taking at least 1 online class. E-learning, or online classes, is much better to the environment as well as the economy. Not only do students pay much less for their tuition, they also spend less on transportation costs and supplies. At a conference recently Bill Gates testified that in the next 5 years universities will practically be worthless considering that the best lectures and presentations all will be accessible on the internet.

Khan Academy, which supplies “a free world-class education for anyone anywhere,” even acquired funding from Bill Gates. Khan Academy has over 2,100 video lessons that include topics like simple algerbra to amortization. Where there is a will to learn, there is also a way; Khan Academy is exactly that. Now the two most essential ways to help someone obtain an education are internet access and the time to be able to allocate for watching videos and working. The internet is a wonderful thing, in that in can help change people’s lives for the better and even though there are many bad parts, it usually is an enormous positive impact on society. There is also school funding programs available for college kids and minorities. By way of example, they have scholarships that will help them fund their educational needs.

Poor people in today’s world are much more capable of lifting themselves out of poverty and becoming successful professionals. People no longer have to leave their homes to go to a school or library since all of that same information can be found using their home computer. This all explains the reason behind the recent push to give 3rd world countries computers and access to the internet. The time period is around the corner when anyone can have a quality education for just a few bucks. Way back in history, only the wealthiest and strongest families could actually educate their kids and enable them to graduate at a university. Many things have changed during the past few decades, specifically in the past decade.

Tablets, like the Internet, are transforming education and how everyone is learning their material. As an alternative to big bulky textbooks students now have interactive ebooks that allow them to watch videos, play games and listen to audio clips. As an alternative to working with papers and broken pencils, students now have the opportunity to write, edit and send their projects all wirelessly. In the past 10 years, education has changed more than during the entire 20th century. Unfortunately not enough people are taking advantage of this. Many people have access to these tools but they are simply lazy or they don’t know about them.

The future of education is a bright one. It’s constantly evolving and becoming more accessible for everybody. Regrettably people aren’t taking advantage of the opportunities they have access to. Classes online are taking over, not just as a result of flexibility they offer students but in addition for their environmental and economic influences.
