Selecting A Lincoln That’s Around A Couple Of Years Old Is Cost Effective
Buying a Lincoln that has been on the road between one and two years can make sense although we all like the idea of having a new one and the feelings that come with that. I was cautioned against acquiring new Lincolns by my own grandma several years ago. Her recommendation appeared to be to find a Lincoln that had not clocked up a great number of miles and was around two years old. This should show that the automobile I ended up owning was in fairly good order especially since any work that had been needed on it up to that point would have been performed.
There are more advantages to purchasing a somewhat older Lincoln in addition to those above which I still follow now whenever I decide to purchase a Lincoln. I will now expand further on just why buying a Lincoln that is not extremely old can result in saving you a bunch of money.
After purchasing a new Lincoln, it can be worth a few thousand less immediately after you leave the Lincoln showroom and is something you may not have considered. A purchase transaction of say $25,000 for a new Lincoln will not have been good for you even if you think it was. The value may be as low as $20,000 as soon as you wave goodbye to the Lincoln dealer. Losing $5,000 dollars can happen in that short space of time and those initial miles covered.
Go ahead and purchase a new Lincoln if you think I am being extreme. After you have, besides going home, you shouldn’t drive anywhere else. Head off to the showroom the day after and check out what worth they set on your Lincoln then. For trading in the Lincoln you might expect anywhere between $15,000 and $20,000 and this is for a Lincoln you bought for $25,000 the day before.
This has been the industry standard for many years. However right now a number of dealerships are offering you a 100% trade in price for 30 days after you buy the Lincoln. But the moment those 4 weeks have come to an end, you are out of that $5,000 no matter how you look at it. And when you try to sell the automobile outright you might wind up losing even more than that.
At this time whenever you buy a Lincoln that is a year or two old you won’t be losing that instant decline when you drive it off the lot. Not to mention like my grandmother said, any bugs the Lincoln may have, will have been worked out by then. Once you consider it like this, by purchasing a pre owned Lincoln with low miles you will actually be getting more for your money than if you bought a new Lincoln at the dealership.
